Spinning and Wool Processing - Jóhanna Erla Pálmadóttir

This course will teach you how to turn Icelandic wool into yarn. It is designed for beginners in wool processing and spinning, as well as those who want to brush up on their spinning skills. The course covers the basics of Icelandic wool and wool processing and you will:

  • Learn about Icelandic wool
  • Learn the difference between tog and þel and how to separate the two layers
  • Card the wool and prepare it for spinning
  • Learn how to spin and ply on the spinning wheel
  • Winding the yarn after spinning

All tools and materials will be provided on site. Spinning will be on the Louet spinning wheel, which originated in the Netherlands and has proven to be very suitable for novice spinners.
We will work only with Icelandic wool, which is available on site. It is washed and ready for use.

When: Sunday the 11th og June,  9 - 12 & 13.30 - 15.30
