Located in the historic Kvennaskólinn building in Blönduós, Northwest Iceland, the Icelandic Textile Center serves as a vibrant creative hub and makerspace. We engage in research projects and long-term collaborations with international partners, fostering education and innovation in textiles, textile art, and design. These efforts are supported through initiatives such as workshops in the TextileLab and a textile residency program.
Ós Residency offers visiting students, scholars, and artists dedicated workspaces to pursue their artistic practices, research, and study trips focused on textiles.
The Center is overseen by a governing board composed of representatives from universities, regional municipalities, associations, and businesses—including the Association of Municipalities in Northwest Iceland, the Reykjavík School of Visual Art, and the Iceland University of the Arts.
