Icelandic wool
Icelandic wool is famous around the world and easy to find here, a region known for its sheep and sheep farming. Handcrafting is a tradition in Iceland, so a wide variety of yarn (colors, wideness, thickness, etc.) can be found in every grocery store (the local store is a 5 min walk from the residency). Locally in Blönduós is the Ístex wool washing factory. Artists are welcome to visit to see the washing process during opening hours.

The Textile Center residency is currently looking into buying a tufting machine before the end of 2019.
