Not included in the residency fee – open to everyone!

The TextileLab is a makerspace located just a 2-minute walk from the Textile Center, who maintains and runs the lab. It is equipped with special equipment for textile work and open for anyone interested in working with textiles, including scholars and artists in residence.Access to the TextileLab and its machines must be booked and paid for separately. Equipment includes digital looms, a felt loom, tufting machines, digital embroidery and knitting machines - see gallery! 

TC2 Residency
Experienced artists can apply for a TC2 residency, which grants exclusive access to the large loom (110 cm. / 36 inches weaving width, 6 modules - module width 3 - 1,320 threads/pixels) for 2 or 4 weeks (maximum one month). The TC2 allows designs made on Jacquard looms and beyond. Training and technical assistance are not included, so only experienced digital loom weavers should apply. Users must independently beam, thread, and operate the TC2 software. Materials and warp for the large loom are not provided.
