TextílLab

The TextílLab is Iceland’s first facility of its kind—combining digital and traditional tools for textile creation. Run by the Textile Center, the Lab serves artists, designers, collectives, and the local community as a resource and creative hub for working with fibers and textiles. It offers equipment for art-making, research, and design, along with a small Yarn & Materials Shop focused on reuse and experimentation.

Managed by two textile specialists, the Lab provides guidance and technical support, helping users develop skills, explore techniques, and confidently use the space.

Where we are

As part of the Icelandic Textile Center, the Textile Lab is just a 2-minute walk from several key textile landmarks in Blönduós — including Ós Residency, the Textile Museum and Ístex Wool Washery. The official opening of the Lab was on May 21, 2021, as part of the European CENTRINNO collaboration, marking a new chapter for innovation in textiles in Iceland.
