Árbraut 33 / 35

The Textile Center residency housing also includes two three-bedroom houses located right next to Kvennaskólinn. The houses were designed by Icelandic architect Guðrún Jónsdóttir, who was inspired by the Danish architectural style, in the early 1970s.

Árbraut 33 is currently being renovated and will open as family / group accommodation in the summer of 2019. The house will be rented out as a whole and feature three bedrooms, a modern kitchen, spacious living room, bathroom, laundry room and patio with stunning views of river Blanda and the ocean. Artists staying at house 33 will have access to all the textile facilities in Kvennaskólinn.

Árbraut 35 is where the TC2 digital loom is located and artists working on the digital loom are staying. The house is older but in decent shape and features three bedrooms, plenty of storage and work space, a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and patio overlooking river Blanda and the ocean. Please note that while artists signing up for a TC2 residency have exclusive access to the digital loom, the house itself may be shared with another artist or scholar in residence. TC2 artists in residence have access to all work facilities and equipment in Kvennaskólinn.
