"Drifting Lab" - Seaweed as Material and Textile

"Drifting Lab" is a free 2–4 hour workshop blending art, sensory learning, and ecological awareness. Artists Alberte Holmø Bojesen and Tuija Hansen invite you to explore seaweed—its textures, stories, and potential as ecological engineer and material collaborator!

🗓 When? Wednesday, July 23, 14:00–18:00
📍 Where? Meet at Kvennaskólinn in Blönduós at 14:00 to walk to the beach and (responsibly) collect seaweed. Or join directly at the TextileLab (Þverbraut 1, Blönduós) at 16:00.

🔎 What? Field excursion (optional), seaweed tasting, and hands-on sessions on seaweed as material and color—learn to make alginate yarns, seaweed textiles, leather, and solar dye with seaweed pigments. We’ll end with a conversation on seaweed’s role in art, science, and sustainability.

👥 Teachers:

🌱 Who? Open to everyone aged 8–100; no experience needed! Workshop in English.

Small confirmation fee (1500 ISK) - includes light refreshments.
