Workshop Mexican Dyes

On August 27th, 2019, our very first Mexican dye workshop was held at the Textile Center dye studio under the guidance of artist in residence Paulina Zuniga.

Mexico has a rich textile tradition and heritage, with plant and insect dyeing techniques stretching back more than 1,000 years. During the workshop, participants experimented with natural dyes such as cochineal (insect dye), brazilwood and pericon (wild marigold).
