Iceland Field School 2026

The Textile Center welcomes study visits and educational groups, also within the framework of our ongoing European collaboration, Tracks4Crafts. They offer participants an introduction to Icelandic textile traditions as well as digital textile technologies; provide opportunities to learn about local textile heritage, meet practitioners, and experience textile techniques through workshops and demonstrations. 

In June 2026, we had fun hosting the Iceland Field School at the Textile Center for the fourth time!

Designed by Dr. Kathleen Vaughan of Concordia University in Montréal, Canada, this interdisciplinary university course brings together students to explore creative practice, textile craft, place-based learning, and community engagement. 

The final exhibition and Artist Talk, titled “Tog & Þel” (the two layers of Icelandic sheep wool), took place during "Rabarbarahátíð" – the Rhubarb Festival – on June 27, 2026, at Hillebrandtshús, one of Blönduós’s oldest houses.
