Fabricademy Textile Bootcamp 2019

Fabricademy is a three-day bootcamp and workshop series for textile students and professionals, fashion designers, makers, artists, digital fabrication experts and curious minds. The event is held annually, with previous locations including Barcelona and Milan.
In May 2019, the bootcamp was held in Iceland, with stopovers at the Icelandic Innovation Center, Tækniskólinn Technical College in Reykjavík, Fab Lab Sauðárkrókur, and the Icelandic Textile Center. Participants learned about lasercut seamless garments, biofabricating colors and materials, crafting soft sensors to embed in textiles, working with silkworms, natural fibers and working with fish leather.
In Blönduós, the group - 30 participants in total - were introduced to the Textile Center's TC2 digital loom and our ongoing research project "Bridging Textiles to the Digital Future".
