The Association of Knowledge Centers is a network of institutions that provide research and higher education services across Iceland. Operating in the public interest, each center has a contractually defined role in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Culture and Innovation. The Association fosters collaboration among these centers and advocates for their shared interests.
The meeting at the Textile Center in Blönduós featured presentations from the six knowledge centers: Nýheimar, Austurbrú, Þekkingarnet Þingeyinga, Þekkingarsetur Suðurnesja, Háskólafélag Suðurlands, and the Textile Center. All centers carry out a wide range of projects in education, research, innovation, culture, and regional development—each shaped by the unique conditions and strengths of its local area. Logi Einarsson, Minister of Culture, Innovation, and Higher Education, attended the event and delivered an address.
As part of the program, representatives also toured the old town of Blönduós and visited both the Textile Center’s TextileLab and Ístex’s wool-washing facility.
