Tc2: Digital Loom workshops

This on-site TC2 Weekend Course, led by our Textile Lab team, Sarah Finkle and Alissa Estivariz, builds on the TC2 Introduction course held this spring.

Designed for anyone who has had a basic introduction to digital weaving, the course provides access to both one- and two-color warps while exploring double weave, multiple shuttles, and other textural techniques.

The Icelandic Textile Center's Textile Lab in Blönduós has two TC2 digital looms (12 threads/cm and 18 threads/cm), ideal for artistic weaving, home textiles, images, and textile design. Participants must have Adobe Photoshop installed on their own computer.

The course fee is ISK 65,000, including warp; participants must bring their own weft. A small yarn shop is available at the Textile Lab, though selection is limited. The course warp is black and white 16/2 mercerized cotton with a 73 cm weaving width on both looms, making it compatible with most weft yarns, including wool, cotton, and linen.

A minimum of 2 participants is required. Registration is open until 28 August.

Working hours on the loom:

• Friday, 18.09: 9:00–17:00
• Saturday, 19.09: 9:00–17:00
• Sunday, 20.09: 9:00–15:00

The course begins on Friday, 18.09 at 9:00 at the Textile Lab, Þverbraut 1, 540 Blönduós.

After the course, you will be able to:

• Create Photoshop files for advanced weave structures.
• Build advanced weave structures for multi-warp and multi-weft systems.
• Refresh your TC2 loom operation skills, including configuration, weaving, tabby function, ratio, and tension testing.
• Take home your own woven samples.
