Artists Alberte Holmø Bojesen and Tuija Hansen invite you to explore seaweed—its textures, stories, and potential as ecological engineer and material collaborator!
🗓 When? Wednesday, July 23, 14:00–18:00📍 Where? Meet at Kvennaskólinn in Blönduós at 14:00 to walk to the beach and (responsibly) collect seaweed. Or join directly at the TextileLab (Þverbraut 1, Blönduós) at 16:00.
🔎 What? Field excursion (optional), seaweed tasting, and hands-on sessions on seaweed as material and color—learn to make alginate yarns, seaweed textiles, leather, and solar dye with seaweed pigments. We’ll end with a conversation on seaweed’s role in art, science, and sustainability.
👥 Teachers:
Tuija Hansen (natural dyeing, community fibre arts)
Alberte Holmø Bojesen (algae as biomaterial, experimental textile design)
🌱 Who? Open to everyone aged 8–100; no experience needed! Workshop in English.
