Visitors from the College of the North Atlantic

From March 5-7 we are hosting 12 students from the College of the North Atlantic! The College is located in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Canada. With multiple campuses throughout the province, the Textile & Apparel Design program is based in St. John’s and is a two year program.

Students learn techniques based in fabric, surface and apparel design. The program aims to nurture an appreciation for handcrafted products with an emphasis on sustainable materials. The group visiting the Textile Center are second year students who are currently in their last year of the program and focus on independent projects that they will display for their graduate show in June.

In Blönduós, they attended classes on traditional handcrafts (knitting and spinning), learned about the history of textiles in Iceland and visited a sheepfarm, the Ístex wool washery and the Textile Museum.
